Gilmer County, Georgia's Apple
Capital, is nestled in the foothills of the Chattahoochee National Forest in the
Appalachian Mountain Range. We are located in the Northwest Georgia
Mountains and encompass 439 square miles. Only 80 miles north of Atlanta
and 75 miles southeast of Chattanooga, Tennessee, this area is convenient to the
airports and major sports and art events and is abundant in natural beauty with
mountains, rivers, lakes, all kinds of wildlife, hiking trails, mountain biking,
fishing, canoeing and kayaking. It is also home to the famous
Georgia Apple Festival which is held annually the 2nd and 3rd weekends in
October.
